Meu Jardim - My Garden

Queria fazer uma peça de maché diferente e tive a boa idéia de mudar o foco pra parede! Essa é a primeira bonequinha que faço pra ser pendurada. Gostei tanto do resultado que já vou começar a fazer outras.

I thought about making a different  mache doll and had the good idea to change the focus to the wall! This is the first doll I do to be hung. I liked the result so much that I`ll start making others very soon.

Novos trabalhos - New work

Tenho andado bem ocupada nos últimos dias. Comecei a fazer várias bonecas novas ao mesmo tempo. Tenho trabalhado bastante à noite, depois que chego em casa do trabalho. Também aproveito os finais de semana, mas um pouco menos. Afinal, tenho que dar atenção ao marido e aos filhos!
Minhas peças de maché são como filhos pra mim também. No momento em que começo uma, quero logo vê-la nascer! Bem, coloco aqui algumas fotos do que ando inventando. Em breve, postarei fotos de todas elas terminadas. Até breve!

I've been pretty busy the last few days. I started making several new dolls at the same time. I have worked very evening after I get home from work. I also take the weekends, but a little less. After all, I have to give attention to my husband and children!
My mache pieces are like children to me too. The moment I start one, I just want to see its birth! Well, I put here some photos of what I've been making. Soon, I'll post photos of them all finished. See you soon!

Rio de Janeiro

Neste último fim de semana estive na minha cidade natal, o Rio de Janeiro! Aaahhh, quanta felicidade! Me senti uma turista indo visitar o Corcovado e me esbaldando nas areias de Copacabana. Fiz questão disso, pra que meus filhos, típicos curitibanos (até no sotaque) pudessem conhecer e se encantar com a cidade maravilhosa. Revi amigos (nem todos, não deu tempo!) e matei muitas saudades! Me hospedei com minha querida amiga Marcia Aquino, amiga dos tempos de escola e companheira de viagens. Como seu aniversário foi no último dia 01 de fevereiro, levei de presente pra ela uma mini Marcia de papel mache. Com seu jeitinho de vestir e sua mesma paixão por lojas de maquiagens!

This last weekend I visited my hometown, Rio de Janeiro! Aaahhh, how much happiness! I felt like a tourist going to Corcovado and having fun on the sands of Copacabana. I wanted that my children, typical "curitibanos" (even the accent) could see and be enchanted by the wonderful city. I met friends (not them all, there wasn´t much time!) and relived many memories! I stayed at my dear friend Marcia Aquino´s house. She´s my friend from school days and also travel companion. As it was her birthday last February 1st, I took her a mini paper mache Marcia doll. With her knack of dressing and her same passion for make up stores!

Um visitante do Recife - A visitor from Recife

Na semana passada, tive o prazer de receber em minha casa para um almoço, meu amigo Luciano Guimarães, mosaicista do Recife. Ele veio a Curitiba para um curso de muralismo com a talentosa Patricia Ono, mestra em  mosaicos. Ele visitou meu atelier e de presente levou um de meus gatinhos. Obrigada pela visita, Luciano e volte em breve!

Last week I had the pleasure of hosting at my home for a lunch, my friend Luciano Guimarães, mosaicist from Recife. He came to Curitiba for a course of murals with the talented Patricia Ono, master of mosaics. He visited my studio and I gave him as a gift one of my kittens. Thanks for your visit, Luciano and come back soon!

Um Trabalho de Restauração - Restoration Work

Eu sempre soube que algum dia ainda teria que fazer um trabalho de restauração em alguma peça minha. Bem, eu não estava errada! Olhem só o que o Ben, o gatinho da Daniela fez com a bonequinha dela.

I always knew that someday I would have to do a restoration work on some of my paper mache pieces. Well, I was not wrong! Look at what Ben, Daniela´s cat did with her ​​doll.

Além de ficar sem a cabeça (me digam como esse gato fez isso???!!!), ela ainda sofreu rachaduras nos braços e cintura. 

Ainda bem que o papel maché é um material super versátil e pode ser restaurado com massa e papietagem. E lá fui eu consertar a pobrezinha.

Besides being without the head (tell me how that cat did it??!!!), she still suffered cracks in her arms and waist.
I´m glad the paper mache is a super versatile material and can be restored with clay, glue and paper. And I started to fix the poor doll.

Uma nova camada de tinta e voilà! Novinha em folha. Nem parece que um gatinho terrorista passou por aqui!

A new coat of paint and voilà! Brand new. It doesn´t seems like a terrorist kitten came by!

Índia Ana Maria

Minha amiga Lu Moraes escreveu um conto sobre uma jovem índia conhecedora de ervas. Ela chama-se Ana Maria e possuiu um grande poder de cura, tanto do corpo quanto da alma. A Lu queria materializar sua amiga índia e pediu-me pra fazer sua versão em papel machê.

My friend Lu Moraes wrote a tale about a young indian who has a great knowledge about herbs. Her name is Ana Maria and she possesses a great power of healing, both body and soul. Lu wanted to materialize her indian friend and asked me to do her version in paper mache.

Carla e Julieta

Fico muito feliz e emocionada quando recebo retorno dos meus clientes em relação às peças que fiz pra eles. Esta é a Carla, minha chará, que encomendou minha última bonequinha. Ela mandou várias fotos dela com a "Julieta" no lugar onde a colocou em sua casa. A Carla batizou a boneca com esse nome e eu achei que combinou muito bem! Achei que ela ficou linda na prateleira ao lado dos livros e outros objetos de decoração. Muito grata pelo seu carinho e sua disponibilidade, querida Carla! Um super beijo! 

I am always very happy and touched when I receive feedback from my customers regarding the dolls I made for them. This is Carla, who ordered my last doll. She sent several photos of her with "Julieta" in the place where she placed it in her house. Carla named the doll with that name and I thought it matched very well! I think she looks great  on the shelf beside the books and other decorative objects. I am very grateful for your kindness and availability, dear Carla! A big kiss!

Escute o seu coração II - Listen to your heart II

Outra encomenda pronta e que já chegou ao seu destino no Rio de Janeiro. A moça que fez o pedido queria uma bonequinha parecida com a última que fiz, segurando um coração nas mãos. Aqui está ela, com alguns detalhes diferentes e bem mais alta que a primeira. Esta tem 50cm de altura e 24 cm de largura.

Another commission ready and yet at it´s destiny in Rio de Janeiro. The girl who made ​​this request wanted a doll similar to the last one I made, holding a heart in her hands. Here she is with some different details and much higher than the first doll. This is 50cm high and 24cm wide.

Instituto História Viva

Recebi o pedido muito especial de fazer em papel maché uma bonequinha da Roseli Bassi, fundadora do Instituto História Viva. A boneca deveria estar usando o tradicional jaleco verde limão de bolsos coloridos que todos os voluntários do História Viva usam quando visitam os hospitais e asilos e encantam com suas histórias as pessoas que se encontram nesses lugares.

Fundado em novembro de 2005 e com sede em Curitiba, O Instituto História Viva capacita, treina e gerencia voluntários para se tornarem ouvidores e contadores de histórias. E o que Roseli e os voluntários fazem? Visitam os asilos da capital paranaense para ouvir os velhos que moram lá. Reminiscências, invencionices, desabafos, queixas, romances, paixões recolhidas, relatos de vida. Nada é desprezado, tudo é minuciosamente anotado. Depois, Roseli e sua turma transformam o que ouviram em histórias infantis. Traduzem a riqueza da biografia dos velhos para a língua das crianças, ou seja, traduzem para contos de fada! Mas a tarefa só termina quando a turma de Roseli vai até os hospitais ou casas de apoio, onde crianças com câncer se recuperam do tratamento, para promover tardes vibrantes de “contação” de histórias.

É precisamente nesse instante que acontece o milagre operado pelo História Viva: as duas pontas da vida, separadas pela distância de três ou quatro gerações, irmanam-se  em um momento de imensa alegria. Velhos e crianças salvam-se mutuamente da doença e do abandono graças aos príncipes, aos heróis, aos vilões derrotados, aos reinos usurpados e reconquistados pelas forças do bem, e a tudo o mais que povoa o mundo imaginário das nossas fantasias.

I received a very special request to make a paper mache doll of Roseli Bassi, founder of the Living History Institute. The doll should be using the traditional lemon green coat with colored pockets that all volunteers of Living History use when visiting  hospitals and nursing homes enchanting people who live in those places with their stories.

Founded in November 2005 and based in Curitiba  Paraná, The Living History Institute empowers, trains and manages volunteers to become listeners and storytellers. And what Roseli and volunteers do? They visit the hospices of Curitiba to listen to the old people who lives there. Reminiscences, fabrications, venting, complaints, novels, collected passions, life stories. Nothing is despised, everything is carefully noted. Then Roseli and her crew transform what they heard in children's stories. They translate the richness of the biography of the old people for the children's language, they translate to fairy tales! But the task of Roseli and her team only ends when they head to hospitals or support centers where children with cancer recover from treatment, to promote vibrant evenings of "story telling".

It is precisely at this moment that the miracle happens operated by the Living History: the two ends of life, separated by the distance of three or four generations, get together in a moment of immense joy. Old and children save each other's disease and abandonment thanks to princes, heroes, defeated villains, usurped realms reconquered by the forces of good, and everything else that fills the imaginary world of our fantasies.
