VERÔNICA

Gostaria de lhes apresentar minha grande amiga Verônica Fukuda. Ela é a pessoa que me ensinou a arte do papel maché. Verônica além de professora de artes, também é artista e cria lindos bichinhos com essa técnica. Ela tem um blog muito bacana, o Papier Maché, onde mostra o trabalho de outros artistas e também o dela.
Minha grande incentivadora, ela sempre me faz encomendas! Dessa vez, duas de minhas bonecas foram adquiridas por ela e ainda tenho outras três pra fazer a pedido seu. Bem, mãos à obra e muito obrigada, querida Vê!

I´d like to introduce you my good friend Verônica Fukuda. She´s the person who taught me the art of paper mache. Veronica besides an art teacher, is also an artist and creates beautiful pets with this technique. She has a very cool blog, Papier Maché, where she shows the work of other artists as well as hers.
My great motivator, she always asks for commissions! This time, two of my dolls were acquired by her and I still have three more to make by her request. Well, let´s work and thank you, dear Ve!

CAROLA

Ainda estou nas nuvens com a viagem a Porto Alegre e o encontro com a Carol W! Foi mesmo um passeio inesquecível! E o curso de papel maché foi fantástico. Lá mesmo em Porto Alegre, comecei a modelar uma bonequinha com jornal, papel alumínio e fita crepe seguindo as dicas da Carol. De volta à Curitiba, arregacei as mangas e comecei o trabalho de cobrir a estrutura com a massa do maché. Dois dias pra deixar a massa secar bem e então, a pintura! Essa é a parte que eu mais gosto! E nasceu a Carola, em homenagem às Caróis gaúchas que tive o prazer de conhecer.


I'm still in the clouds with my trip to Porto Alegre and the meeting with Carol W! It was really an unforgettable ride! And the paper maché course was fantastic! There in Porto Alegre, I started modeling a little doll with newspaper, foil and masking tape following Carol´s tips. Back to Curitiba, rolled up my sleeves and began the work of covering the structure with the maché pulp. Two days to let it dry thoroughly and then, the paint! That's the part I like best! And Carola was born, in honor of the two Carols I had the pleasure to meet there.

FRIDA

Minha amiga Schandra, que faz lindíssimos mosaicos, encomendou-me uma bonequinha da Frida Kahlo. Já havia visto na net algumas versões muito bacanas. Gostei muito da Frida da Valentina Ferrari (Cartarughe) em papel maché, e as da Du Buh Du Designs, em cerâmica plástica. Bem, cada artista já deve ter feito sua versão da Frida. Afinal, uma figura tão polêmica e talentosa como ela, merece ser sempre lembrada e retratada!

My friend Schandra, who makes beautiful mosaics, commissioned me a doll of Frida Kahlo. I have seen on the internet some very cool versions of Frida. I really liked Valentina Ferrari´s (Cartarughe) paper maché Frida doll, and Du Buh Du Designs´ version in polymer clay. Well, every artist should have already done their version of Frida. After all, a figure so controversial and talented as she was, deserves to be always remembered!

SEREIA - MERMAID

O carnaval deste ano aqui em Curitiba foi pra lá de chuvoso. Tristeza para muitos foliões que gostam de curtir na rua. Além da chuva, fazia aquele friozinho típico da nossa cidade. Fazer o que? Curitiba é assim!
Entretanto, pude aproveitar bem esses dias de descanso e marasmo. Aliás, marasmo foi o que menos pintou no meu atelier. Minha imaginação voou solta e novas personagens surgiram neste tempo. E outras ainda estão por vir! Logo, logo vocês as conhecerão. Por hora, apresento-lhes minha Sereia. Feita com jornal, massa de papel maché, air dry clay e pintada com tinta acrílica. Nos detalhes, um pouquinho de renda bordada. Nada mal, hein?!


Carnival this year was very rainy here in Curitiba. Sad for many partygoers who like to enjoy the party on the streets. Besides the rain, that´s typical of our city, it was also cold. Do what? That´s Curitiba!
However, I could make good use of those days of marasmus. My imagination flew loose and new characters emerged at this time. And there are others yet to come! Soon you will know them. For now, I give you my Mermaid. Made with newspaper, paper maché mass, air dry clay and painted with acrylic paint. And also a little embroidered lace. Not bad, huh?!
